“Congress: Not an Average American Workplace” by Anna Maier

Art by Anna Maier

Congress is unlike the typical American workplace, rightfully so in some respects. When such differences are appropriate, mere variance is not sufficient to examine the health of these institutions, the bearer of each dissimilarity matters. Illustrative of this principle, the standards of morality in Congress and the workplace differ facially, but Congress incorrectly holds the lower standard. People who hold immense power should be held to a higher, or at least an equal standard of ethics and morals. While many are to blame for this trend, voters are in a unique position to make a change by demanding greater virtue at the polls.
